Hart celebrates 125 years and partners with local cooking icon

< 1 min

One of the few cookware brands still being produced locally, Hart Cookware is celebrating its 125th year by partnering with renowned chef and author Dorah Sitole. She has created a recipe book with 125 food ideas, including some submitted by Hart’s loyal customers.

“My earliest food memories are of pap or ‘umdoko’ cooking on a coal stove in a shiny Hart pot, and my mom’s Hart teapot simmering throughout the whole day to make a soothing cup of tea for whomever needed it,” says Sitole. The recipes in the book cover a range of tastes and occasions, from casual, quick meals to special occasions, but all using Hart’s range of cookware.

The recipes were all captured by food photographer Elsa Young and styled by Mokgadi Itsweng. “We’re really proud of the book that we have created together. We had such a talented and passionate team and the result is just beautiful,” says Sitole. The cookbooks are currently available in most major wholesalers and retailers free with purchase of stickered Hart sets, until stocks last.

Hart Cookware employs over 500 people to manufacture and distribute its products. “We produce around 250 000 pieces of cookware every month across all our brands. These include Hart, Aloe, CaterPride, Pointerware and Impala. As a 100% South African company, we are committed to quality, affordability and sustainability,” says Nash Soni, CEO of Hendler & Hart.

“I have been fortunate to be part of this incredible company for 17 years and I look forward to the next stage of our journey together,” says Soni. “We’re honoured to have been a part of so many lives and we  look forward to serving Mzansi for another 125 years.”
