South Africa, Stellenbosch, January 2026
Get ready for Stellenbosch’s first major wine celebration of the year. The STELLENBOSCH Harvest Parade returns in full colour and spirit. This year’s parade takes place on Saturday, 31 January 2026. Importantly, the event marks a major milestone. Stellenbosch Wine Routes celebrates its 55th anniversary, highlighting its leadership in local and international wine tourism.
Celebrating 55 Years of Wine Heritage at the STELLENBOSCH Harvest Parade
The Harvest Parade honours a long-standing journey of excellence. Once again, it welcomes the year’s bounty from the vineyards. As a result, the historic town centre comes alive with decorated floats, vibrant costumes and energetic brass band music.
Moreover, the parade forms part of an ancient global tradition. Farming communities gather to give thanks and look ahead to a fruitful season. In South Africa, this tradition carries even greater meaning. Notably, the country is the only wine-producing nation with a recorded founding date—2 February 1659.
In Stellenbosch, the Harvest Parade recognises the farmers and workers behind the vineyards. Many of them proudly take part in the procession.
Voices from the Winelands Community
“We are thrilled to welcome the Stellenbosch Harvest Parade back to our streets,” says Stellenbosch Wine Routes manager Elmarie Rabe. “Wine culture defines Stellenbosch. It shapes our identity, our heritage and the rhythm of daily life.
“Importantly, this parade honours the people behind the vineyards and cellars. Their work supports thousands of jobs and drives regional growth. Ultimately, it shows how deeply wine is woven into the life and prosperity of Stellenbosch.”
Meanwhile, spectators can enjoy the parade free of charge as it moves through town.
In addition, the Stellenbosch Municipality continues to support the event. This long-standing partnership reflects the importance of agriculture and wine tourism to the region’s economy and heritage.
“The Harvest Parade remains a highlight on our town’s calendar,” says Executive Mayor Jeremy Fasser. “It allows us to give thanks for the new harvest and celebrate our winemakers, farmers and farm workers. Their contribution is immense. Together, we celebrate community, colour and togetherness.”
