The popular seafront Sea Point hotel Winchester Mansions has commenced refurbishment on its 76 bedrooms. The bedrooms include family and loft-style rooms, as well as various suites, and the refurbishment will take approximately three months.
The hotel has prime position on Sea Point’s bustling promenade, with views out over the promenade and ocean. It’s well-known for its landmark Cape Dutch architecture, and is one of the popular spots along this iconic Cape Town stretch for sundowners or long lazy lunches.
Murray Nell, Managing Director at Winchester Mansions, says that: “We are extremely excited about the refurbishment and are thrilled with the designs. Winchester Mansions is entering into a new chapter; we are building on our past successes and strengthening our legacy. We are confident of the hotel’s favourable future, having invested in this opportunity for further growth.”
The hotel is owned by Mrs Wainford, who has chosen four colour palettes for the design – the palettes were inspired by her collection of classic artwork. The interior design will be undertaken by Origin Interiors. Beth Murray, Founder of Origin Interiors, comments: “Guests can look forward to the same classic, iconic and timeless feel of the hotel, with a new level of sophistication, luxury and vibrancy.”
