Global beer brand Corona has launched its first flagship venue in South Africa with the opening of Ocaso, a Mexican-inspired dining and cocktail destination in Johannesburg’s Oxford Parks.
Developed by seasoned operator Heinz Rynners of Boulder Group, alongside Ben Stanger and Luke Dakers from Monseca Hospitality Group, the venue was created in partnership with SAB and is designed to bring Corona’s “golden hour” lifestyle to life.
Ocaso is more than just a high-end food and beverage outlet. It operates as a dedicated brand platform for Corona – a space for daily activations, product launches, curated events, and immersive brand storytelling.
“This isn’t just a high-performing outlet,” says Stanger. “It’s the brand’s spiritual home; a place where Corona can show up fully, every single day.”
Open seven days a week from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m., Ocaso offers a day-to-night experience, blending laid-back lunches, mezcal tastings and after-work drinks with late-night DJ sessions featuring R’n’B, Afrohouse, Amapiano and more. The menu combines classic Mexican staples with local flair, while the bar programme is built around tequila and mezcal-forward cocktails.
Located at 1 Oxford Parks, 199 Oxford Road, the venue occupies the former Shortmarket Club site and joins a growing cluster of premium hospitality offerings in the mixed-use Rosebank precinct.
Interiors were designed by Johannesburg-based Bourne Kreative, who worked closely with the brand team to embed Corona’s identity into every design element – from textured finishes and artisan-crafted details to the atmospheric lighting and woven materials.
A second phase, featuring a rooftop deck with a beach-style experience, is set to open ahead of the summer season.
