[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Launching in December in Cape Town’s Foreshore, The Onyx is a luxury hotel which forms part of a mixed-use development opposite the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). The property is managed by Newmark Hotels, Residences, Reserves and Lodges.
The building was transformed by one of Cape Town’s leading architects, Robert Silke, and property development company Signatura, and reflects the hotel’s namesake onyx (a gemstone similar in appearance to black sapphire) with its slick black surfaces. The hotel comprises 102 apartment-style hotel rooms, including studios, deluxe-studios, one-bedroom apartments, deluxe one-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom apartments.
Each studio and apartment features a fully-equipped kitchenette, which allows for easy in-room dining and convenience for guests. However, if they don’t feel like cooking, the building is home to restaurant MRKT which serves breakfast and lunch items, including buffet offerings, and features a barista station, bakery and deli. An Asian-style restaurant and sake bar will open in the first quarter of 2019. The fourth floor features a bar, lounge and relaxation area, gym facilities, an indoor-outdoor swimming pool with views of Cape Town and Table Mountain, and a spa managed by Sanctuary Signature Spas
Comments Neil Markovitz, MD of Newmark Hotels, Residences, Reserves & Lodges: “The Onyx is the product of outstanding team work and expert input from industry leaders; a property that I am immensely proud to have incorporated into Newmark’s Residences portfolio. We look forward to the official opening with great anticipation and trust that The Onyx will exceed guests’ expectations.”
