Clico Boutique Hotel has long been a bolthole in bustling Rosebank, and the property’s recent revamp certainly makes the most of the beautiful property. Its function venue and one of its hotel rooms have been completely refurbished, and the restaurant now includes a terraced outside area.
Clico Boutique Hotel founder Jeanette Schwegman has created a number of charming spaces, with design ideas from Merylle Leigh of Align Designs, and finishes and furnishings from Johann Nel Designs. The function and events space, perfect for small events and weddings, now opens out completely onto the tranquil gardens with additional stacking doors added. Inside, walls are adorned with suspended planter boxes filled with greenery, providing a respite from the busy streets of Rosebank whether you’re inside or outside the events space.
On the opposite side of the property, Clico’s restaurant is now visible through the boundary wall venue. The new terraced area, surrounded by plants and set under a canopy of trees, and outside bar allows guests to enjoy Joburg’s glorious weather while dining from Chef Marnus Scholly’s refined menu.
Lastly, Jen has begun a complete refresh of the accommodation, starting with Room 8. The flagship suite has been given a complete makeover, including the addition of a free-standing Victoria and Alfred bath – the space is large enough for a family but also perfectly suited for honeymooners.
“Clico is my way of giving travel-weary guests a place of comfort and rest, somewhere they can sit back, relax and enjoy a glass of bubbles in the garden. Whether you’re in Johannesburg for business or leisure, part of a conference or looking for a refined meal; Clico welcomes you to take a deep breath and leave your stress behind” says Jen Schwegman, founder and owner.
