Sheraton Pretoria launches new menu

2 min read

The Magnolia Restaurant at the Sheraton Pretoria recently unveiled their new a la carte menu, and they chose a fitting day to do it – World Food Day. The menu was designed by executive chef Alexandre Coupy, who drew from his international travels to create a menu that celebrates cuisines from all over the world.

“With a mix of dishes that celebrates the diversity of the world on the menu, there’s no better time to launch it, than on World Food Day,” he says. Established in 1945, World Food Day seeks to promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger, highlight the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all.

“World Food Day provides a wonderful opportunity to highlight the difficulties for the millions of people around the world who do not receive adequate food and nutrition. And we have a responsibility to contribute to this course the best way we know how,” says Coupy.

The hotel assists a non-profit organisation – SA Cares for Life – a facility that cares for abandoned and vulnerable children from birth to 5-years old with soup once a week, as well as a laundry service.

“Every little bit helps, and these efforts mean other donations can be used elsewhere and for the list of other necessities to keep the organisation’s doors open,” Coupy says.

The new Magnolia Restaurant menu consists of a range of salads and light dishes for starters, as well as sandwiches which are served with French fries and a side salad. Mains include pastas, grills and seafood, as well risotto and slow-cooked pork ribs. There’s a kids’ menu as well, with healthier options included, and desserts include a ricotta or caramel cheesecake, orange malva, and a cheese platter.
