On the banks of the Eerste River, Spier’s two new villas mark a confident evolution in Winelands hospitality. Set within the farm’s reimagined hotel precinct, these exclusive-use retreats balance home-like freedom with the refined ease of full-service living.
A New Chapter for Spier

The villas complete Spier’s recent year-long restoration, which saw the hotel reopen earlier this year with:
- 80 luxury rooms and suites
- Two new restaurants and three bars
- A Cape Herbal Spa and nature-inspired kids’ club
- An expansive heated pool
Together, they redefine the farm’s approach to luxury: slow, grounded, and deeply connected to nature.
The Villas

- Garden Villa (3-bedroom) – Earthy and intimate, with tones of rust and caramel, a private courtyard, shaded pergola, outdoor lounge, and fireplace.
- Riverside Villa (3-bedroom) – Overlooking the river, with soft greens, textured finishes, and panoramic views of the gardens, trees, and birdlife.
Both villas feature private heated pools, generous entertainment areas, deep verandas, and dedicated service teams—including a private chef on request.

Design & Craft

Interiors by Jacques Erasmus celebrate a philosophy of “less, but meaningful.” Lime-washed walls, hand-hammered metalwork, butter-soft linen, antique finds, and local craftsmanship give each space an authentic, lived-in elegance.
Blanket stitching references 300 years of Cape embroidery, while bed throws dyed with indigenous plants by artist Ingrid Bolton connect the interiors to the landscape. “It should feel like sleeping under the fabric of the garden,” says Erasmus.
Architecture & Landscape
Architect Paul Luck (Lightspace) and landscape designer Danie Steenkamp have blurred the lines between indoors and outdoors. French doors open onto fynbos-filled gardens—part of Spier’s ongoing rewilding project—while verandas and fire pits extend the villas into nature.

Art & Sense of Place

Art remains central to Spier’s identity. Each villa features works curated with the Spier Arts Trust, alongside heirlooms from the family’s private collection, grounding the interiors in South African creativity and heritage.
Experience
Guests can tailor every stay—whether it’s a private celebration, family reunion, or remote working escape. All hotel facilities remain within walking distance, including wine bars, restaurants, the spa, and the Buzz Club for children.
In essence:
Spier’s villas aren’t simply new accommodation—they’re a return to authenticity. Homes that feel deeply personal, shaped by nature, and anchored in craftsmanship. For travellers seeking quiet luxury and privacy without disconnecting from place, these villas are where the Winelands breathe a little slower
