Open Studios Debuts in Fish Hoek and Clovelly This October

A new addition to the Cape’s cultural calendar, the inaugural Open Studios Fish Hoek & Clovelly (OSFHC) takes place from 3–5 October 2025. Nineteen artists will open their studios across 15 locations on four routes, offering visitors the chance to meet creators, explore the neighbourhoods and experience a wide range of art forms.

Studios will be open free of charge on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October, with disciplines spanning painting, ceramics, sculpture, papermaking, textiles, mosaics and illustration. A ticketed preview on Friday, 3 October, gives collectors and enthusiasts early access to works for sale, with a portion of proceeds donated to the Flamingo Project, which funds breast cancer surgery for those in need.

Participants include established names such as Carol Hofmeyr of the Keiskamma Art Project, award-winning ceramicist Sandile Cele, and multidisciplinary artist Marlise Keith, alongside emerging painters, textile designers, mosaicists and photographers.

Visitors can navigate the routes — Clovelly, Fish Hoek Valley, Fish Hoek Mountainside and Risi View — with a bespoke illustrated map by Kyoko Kimura Morgan, available at local outlets and online. Organisers recommend private transport or ride-hailing for ease of access, as distances between studios vary.

Supported by local businesses and community partners, OSFHC reflects the creative energy of an area once regarded as quiet but increasingly recognised for its diverse artistic community.
