Qatar Airways Nears Full Starlink Upgrade for Boeing 777 Fleet, Expands to Airbus A350

Qatar Airways is close to completing a fleet-wide Starlink Wi-Fi upgrade across its Boeing 777 aircraft, with the final installations expected soon. The airline will also begin fitting its Airbus A350 fleet with the same high-speed connectivity this month.

Qatar Airways is currently the world’s largest operator of Starlink-equipped Boeing 777s, with more than 80% of its fleet already upgraded. The airline has completed over 6,000 flights across its global network, which spans more than 170 destinations. The Starlink system provides passengers with high-speed internet for activities such as streaming, gaming, and working during flights.

This expansion marks a significant milestone as Qatar Airways becomes the first airline to install Starlink Wi-Fi on its Airbus A350 fleet.

Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer emphasised the importance of this upgrade: “We are just a few aircraft away from completing a full fleet-wide upgrade of our Boeing 777s with Starlink connectivity—an industry-first for a widebody fleet of this scale. We will also begin equipping the Airbus A350 with Starlink, further enhancing the in-flight experience for our passengers.”

The airline’s commitment to in-flight connectivity and passenger experience continues with this strategic investment, ensuring faster, more reliable Wi-Fi service on its most important routes.

Qatar Airways remains a leader in the aviation industry, recognised for its high-speed Wi-Fi service and passenger service, as reflected in its recent recognition as the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax in 2024.
