Port Owen Marina Takes It Up Another Notch

2 min read

Port Owen Marina, a firm favourite amongst holidaymakers with its jam-packed entertainment and idyllic setting on the banks of the marina, is set to offer guests an even more memorable stay thanks to a R2 million upgrade by managing agent, First Group.  This forms part of a R179 million-rand refurbishment programme that is currently being rolled out across First Group’s properties countrywide.

Johann Jordaan, Services and Resorts Director at First Group explains: “We are constantly evaluating the needs of our guests and searching for ways to enhance their vacation. Our focus was therefore on offering more children’s entertainment to ensure that we keep family vacations at the heart of our hospitality.  Another exciting development is the introduction of a health spa, which aligns the resort with one of the fastest growing travel trends impacting the hospitality sector.”

Situated in Velddrif on the Cape West Coast, this beautiful marine resort is ready to ‘wow’ guests with its newly built world-class, Italian inspired La Vita Spa. A full range of wellness massages and beauty treatments are now available, with a double-treatment room to cater for couples. There is also a sauna, jacuzzi and a nail salon to ensure guests get the best possible ‘TLC’ during their stay.

Jordaan adds that the newly modernised reception area, which features a cosy coffee shop, has created a warmer welcome from the moment guests arrive to check-in. Also onsite is a laundry room to cater for the accommodations that do not feature a washing machine.

“Catering to the kids has always been a priority, so we made sure we ticked all the right boxes with a state-of-the-art children’s entertainment room featuring the latest PS4 and Xbox gaming consoles as well as an outside pool table,” he says.

Port Owen Marina boasts 33 spacious self-catering apartments and chalets that are situated on the banks of the marina, with most accommodations having access to a jetty. A balcony or terrace provides a private braai area with magnificent views of the marina, and there are many opportunities for sailing, boating and fishing as well as a playground and open-air heated pool.

“Guests are spoilt for choice at Port Owen Marina and we aim to ensure that the resort remains top-of-mind for the most memorable vacations on the Cape West Coast,” concludes Jordaan.
