Waverley Hills launches five-course food and wine pairing for winter

< 1 min

Just 90 minutes from Cape Town, Waverley Hills wine estate in the Witzenberg Valley close to Tulbagh is keeping it cosy this winter with its restaurant’s offering of a heartwarming five course food and wine pairing menu.

The restaurant is a popular spot for winter lunches as not only does it have twin fireplaces inside the venue, but enjoys beautiful views over vineyards, farmlands and snowy peaks after there’s been snowfall in the area. Heading up the kitchen is Chef Francois du Toit, whose menu includes Wild mushroom served with Parmesan custard cream, and Prawns fried with spiced paprika, garlic and parsley.

Other dishes are the sumptuous-sounding Pork Belly, pork neck, honeycomb, bacon jus and lemon pickled apple, served on a bed of pearl couscous, and Steak with marrow mushroom ketchup, roast truffle-flavoured baby onions and potato cream.

Each dish on the five course food and wine pairing menu is paired with one of Waverley Hills’ Premium Organic Wines, which include the Waverley Hills Grenache Noir, Waverley Hill Cabernet Sauvignon – No Added Sulphites and Waverley Hills Shiraz Mourvedre Viognier.

This five-course food and wine pairing menu is available until the end of Spring 2019 and is priced at R395.00 per person. Reservations are required a week in advance.
