There’s no better place to be on a hot summer’s day than in a shady spot under an oak tree, and Catharina’s restaurant at Steenberg is capitalising on their picture perfect setting with a specially designed terrace menu.
Keeping things light and uncomplicated, Executive Chef Archie Maclean, has compiled a new one-course lunch menu with plenty of choice for a relaxed, no-fuss summer sojourn. Cooked simply and presented beautifully, Chef Archie’s menu is interwoven with fresh, locally sourced ingredients prepared in a contemporary style with unexpected twists.
Options include pasta of the day, a variety of salads such as chicken Caesar and smoked salmon, panini and toasted sandwiches, and the ultimate gourmet burger and fish and chips. Battered kingklip with hand cut chips and a side salad at R145 is Chef Archie’s take on fish and chips. In addition to the usual trimmings, his beef Steenburger at R165 is stacked with gherkin, avocado, blue cheese and a fried egg. It comes with hand cut truffle parmesan chips and coleslaw.
Enjoyed with a glass or two of fine Steenberg bubbly, Sauvignon Blanc or Rosé, you’re all set for a relaxed summer al fresco lunch.
Catharina’s offers diners an à la carte menu as well as a 5-course tasting menu for lunch and dinner. On Sundays it’s the place to be for a lavish buffet-style feast and live music from 12h00 till 15h00.
