Radisson RED Cape Town has appointed Angus Spurr as General Manager. He takes up the role as the hotel undergoes significant refurbishments, including a revamped rooftop experience set to launch before the 2025 festive season.
Spurr has more than 20 years’ global hospitality experience, including 10 years with the Radisson Hotel Group. He began his career in London in the late 1990s with brands including Starwood Hotels and Accor. He returned to Cape Town in 2014 to join the Radisson pre-opening team at Radisson Blu Le Vendome, later leading several Radisson properties in the city. His expertise includes repositioning hotels, improving operational performance, and building high-performing teams.
“This hotel has always broken the mould,” says Spurr. “It puts the fun back into fundamentals – there’s nothing generic about it. RED’s personality and creativity make it a space where guests and staff alike can truly enjoy themselves.”
Known for a collaborative, people-first leadership style, Spurr says: “We succeed as a team, listening to our experts, empowering people, and having fun while we deliver exceptional results.”
The refreshed Radisson RED will retain its focus on art, music, and mixology, hosting events from emerging artist showcases to cocktail culture experiences.
