Blaauwberg Beach Hotel has officially announced the appointment of Philippe Marechal as General Manager. A seasoned hotelier with over 25 years of industry experience, Marechal is no stranger to the property, having played a pivotal role in the hotel’s launch and early operations when it first opened in 2018. His appointment marks a significant milestone for the hotel, which has transformed from an empty shell into a thriving hospitality destination on Cape Town’s iconic Blouberg beachfront.
With a proven track record of launching hotels under pressure, Marechal has built and earned a reputation as a go-to expert for complex hospitality rollouts. His return to manage Blaauwberg Beach Hotel is a deliberate strategic move by the hotel’s ownership, aimed at bringing long-term vision and leadership to this landmark beachfront property.

Marechal’s career spans a diverse range of senior leadership roles across the African continent, including Deputy and General Manager roles at several high-profile properties. Known for his hands-on approach and ability to turn around underperforming hotels, he combines technical project knowledge with an in-depth understanding of the hospitality landscape, including sustainable growth strategies.
Marechal already has ambitious plans for the future of Blaauwberg Beach Hotel. Under his leadership, the hotel will soon unveil a brand-new event venue, followed by a revamp of the popular Waves restaurant. Plans are also underway to expand the hotel’s accommodation offering, with the construction of additional rooms on the 10th and 11th floors.
