This May, a member of Cape Country Routes, The De Hoop Collection, is partnering with Bruce Jack, founder and winemaker of Bruce Jack Wines – an independent, family-run, global wine business based in the Bredekloof Valley, to offer a Luxury Wine Weekend from Friday 30 May to Sunday 1 June 2025.

“Do yourself a favour, book for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend. A weekend filled with wine, food, comfortable accommodation, pristine beaches and stunning landscapes that features the delights of De Hoop, and the refinement of expertly crafted South African wine, says the owner of The De Hoop Collection, William Stephens.

With its charming Cape Dutch-inspired accommodation ranging from affordable self-catering chalets and cottages to upmarket suites and fully catered lodges, its Fig Tree Restaurant with an impressive Wine Cellar housed in a repurposed grain silo that overlooks the birdlife-rich vlei, the sea, sand dunes, the floral sensation of rare fynbos plants, diverse antelope, Cape vultures, whales and the Potberg Mountain, this exceptional getaway, situated in the heart of De Hoop Nature Reserve, ticks all the boxes.

The De Hoop Collection Bruce Jack Luxury Wine Weekend includes a dinner on Friday evening with Bruce Jack’s new launch tasting of new vintages and new projects, with the Palm Strings providing soothing background music.

On Saturday – a Master Class with Michael Fridjhon “How does the Agulhas Wine Triangle compare with the rest of the world?” (booked and paid for separately; also an opportunity to hear about and see the Origins of Early Southern Sapiens Behaviour exhibition that highlights the Southern Cape coastline’s archaeological heritage and diverse marine environment; and available throughout the day, activities (can be booked on arrival) that include biking, tennis, eco-boat cruises on the vlei, guided marine walks at Koppie Alleen (rock pools teem with anemones, mussels and colourful starfish), walks through the coastal fynbos and up-close encounters with herds of bontebok, antelope and other diverse wildlife.
