PMR Hospitality Partners Names Graham Wood As Partner

2 min read

PMR Hospitality Partners, a hotel development, project management and full-service Management Company, has announced Graham Wood as a new partner.

Joining Tony Romer-Lee, Michael Pownall and Euan McGlashan as PMR Hospitality Partners’ 4th partner, Wood complements the array of hotel operational and asset management services that PMR provides to owners and clients across the African continent.

“We have all been involved in the hospitality industry in multiple roles and with every responsibility imaginable. We now want to take our combined knowledge and expertise and solidify ourselves as the best full service hotel management company on the African continent.” says Wood.

Wood brings 21 years of valuable strategic and operational leadership experience to the table, carefully built up over a stellar career in the Hospitality & Gaming Industry through financial, commercial, and operational management and strategic leadership roles.

As a respected former Hotel CEO, a highly recognized advisor to the African Hotel Industry and the former Managing Director of Tsogo Sun Hotels (formerly Southern Sun Hotels), Wood draws on vast experience in the strategic leadership of large portfolios comprised of ultra luxury, deluxe, full service, economy and budget hotel brands.

PMR partner Euan McGlashan notes, “We have known Graham for many years and since forming our company four years ago, we have stayed very closely linked, looking at various opportunities together as well as mutually exclusively working on numerous leads. Through these interactions we all soon realized that joining forces made perfect sense and in a business where multiple management companies exist yet none with our full service strength, professionalism and abilities, merging was a massive win – win for both parties.”

PMR Hospitality Partners is headquartered in Cape Town and Durban, where Wood will be based while continuing to dedicate his time to the development of the South African Tourism industry. Wood is also Board member of South African Tourism, the Country’s destination marketing organization, and the chairperson of the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa, the respected authority on quality tourism products in South Africa.

Driven by pioneering world-class guest experience, foundational employee culture & engagement all wrapped in commerciality, leading to strong owner returns, PMR Hospitality Partners and sister company Valor Hospitality Partners manage 40+ hotels on 3 continents with another 10 properties in the pipeline. PMR and Valor share senior executive staff across the countries as well as their global strategic thinking, systems, procedures, relationships, networks and intellectual capital.

Wood, added, “Through our unique, combined experiences, we have literally become experts in every facet of this highly specialized and incredibly tough business, especially with the advent of new technological and social media / OTA platforms over the years, as well as competing against a litany of companies who compete on discounted pricing rather than total quality across the board. Together we can do more and execute at an even higher level than we could have separately.”
