FEDHASA Cape names Youth Bursary recipients

< 1 min

FEDHASA Cape has announced that Nolubabalo Matiwane, Khayakazi Mabefu and Yanga Ndayi arethe recipients of its 2017 Youth Bursary.

“We are extremely proud of these three candidates. This bursary will give them an opportunity to secure their studies for the coming year and be groomed into young, up-and-coming professionals in the hospitality industry,” says Jeff Rosenberg, FEDHASA Cape chairman.

Nolubabalo is studying towards an online Higher Certificate in Hospitality Management with International Hotel School, Khayakazi is completing her BTech in Hospitality Management at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology’s Hotel School and Yanga is completing his second year in Hospitality Management at International Hotel School.

In May, the association called on all students and trainees from its Cape member institutions studying towards a hospitality qualification and who have successfully completed their second year to apply for funding to the value of R70,000.00. The funds for this bursary were raised at an auction at the FEDHASA Cape Annual Golf Day earlier this year.

The Youth Bursary is FEDHASA Cape’s contribution to ensuring that ‘deserving’ students are afforded the opportunity to have their studies funded. He says the bursary contributres towards their tuition fees and the training institution is also requested to provide FEDHASA Cape with the student’s academic progress at least twice a year.

“At FEDHASA Cape, we are committed to uplifting deserving students through education and there are so many young professionals out there who simply can’t afford to complete their studies. Our aim is to change this bit by bit,” Rosenberg says.
