The 91st Swartland Show returns to the Moorreesburg Show Grounds from 3–6 September 2025, bringing together agriculture, agribusiness, and hospitality in one of the Western Cape’s most celebrated rural gatherings.
Billed as more than just an agricultural exhibition, the Swartland Show combines world-class implement displays, livestock championships, live demonstrations, interactive exhibits, family entertainment, wine and food experiences, and a newly introduced tent village offering on-site camping accommodation for visitors and exhibitors.
The programme features small livestock and beef cattle championships, with eight major cattle breeds competing for top honours. This year also marks the Romagnolo breed’s debut. Sheep-shearing champion Tinus du Plessis, fresh from setting a new world record earlier this year, will headline the popular shearing championship on 6 September.
Youth development remains central, with more than 250 competitors taking part in 16 disciplines at the Western Cape Qualifying Regional Show. New categories such as Culinary Arts, Photography and Dairy Processing reflect the sector’s diversification.
The agricultural seminar on Friday, 5 September, under the theme “Farming’s Future: We Separate the Wheat from the Chaff”, will feature respected speakers including Theo Vorster, Prof. Johan Fourie, Tobias Doyer, and JP Landman. Designed for producers, agribusiness leaders, and investors, the session will explore economic trends, market outlooks, and opportunities shaping the sector.
Says the organising committee: “The Swartland Show is where tradition meets opportunity – a platform for farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, and communities to connect, learn, and celebrate together. Our heart remains agriculture, but the show has become a meeting point for business and leisure alike.”
Entertainment and Community
Beyond farming, the show offers a broad hospitality and lifestyle programme. Highlights include Ladies’ Day (3 September), with fashion, food, and entertainment for more than 500 guests; live music and DJ performances from 4–6 September; and a children’s play area with trampolines, go-karts, paintball, and more.
From the Vlaamperd SA and Saddle Horse Championships to evening concerts and a bustling wine garden, the four-day event blends farming pride, country hospitality, and family entertainment.
