As of 31 March 2018, Luke Dale Roberts X Saxon, based at the Saxon Hotel, will close. Up until this date the restaurant will continue to operate under the guidance of Chef Luke Dale-Roberts. A brand-new offering headed by Chef Candice Philip will be opening in this space early April 2018.

This decision has come after two successful years of collaboration between Chefs Luke and Candice.

Luke Dale-Roberts plans to focus his efforts on his three Cape Town restaurants and commented that: “This is a great opportunity for head chef Candice Philip to shine in her own right. Working with her has been a pleasure and I’m excited to see what she comes up with at The Saxon to take it forward to its next culinary level.”

Saxon managing director George Cohen added: “It has been an honour and pleasure to have had my good friend Chef Luke as a member of the Saxon Family for the past two years. We are delighted that Chef Candice will now come into her own with this exciting new venture, showcasing the culinary talents of not only herself but also her team.”

Luke Dale Roberts X Saxon received numerous accolades over the past two years including being named the World’s Leading Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant 2016 at the World Travel Awards and being nominated in the Top 20 for the 2017 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards.

Further details on the new concept opening at Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa in April will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
