Announced at Hostex powering Food & Hospitality Africa, Precious Matseke has been awarded this year’s Bryan Montgomery Bursary of R35 000. Precious Matseke is currently a student at the International Hotel School, and the bursary will go towards her studies.

The Bursary was created by Specialised Exhibitions in honour of founding member Bryan Montgomery, who had a passion for all things culinary. The Bursary recipient is selected by SA Chefs and is awarded to a prospective chef student with budgetary constraints that hamper their culinary education.

Matseke, who stays with her mother and sister in Mabopane, Tshwane was awarded the bursary because of her remarkable potential and hunger for success. After her father passed away in 2016, her mother has been the family’s sole provider and does not have the means to enable Matseke’s dream of becoming a qualified chef. Proving that she is determined to succeed, Matseke subsidises her studies by working several jobs and the Bryan Montgomery Bursary will go a long way in helping her to achieve her dream of becoming a chef.
