The much anticipated re-opening of the iconic Ritz Hotel in Sea Point, Cape Town will take place in mid-2017.  The landmark hotel is reopening after an extensive R120 million refurbishment carried out by hospitality services and investments company Shimmy Luxury Collection (SLC).  “We have taken an icon in both Cape Town’s tourism history and landscape and created something that we believe is really special – timeless elegance supported by state-of-the-art amenities and facilities,” says SLC Group CEO and Co-Founder, Nicky van der Walt. “We have made equal effort to cater to the needs of international and local travelers in addition to guests from Cape Town’s business and social communities. We believe that by offering accessible luxury, The Ritz will delight and deliver across the board, with a large variety of food and beverage experiences”.

Features will include free high-speed WIFI, conferencing facilities, and interior design that seeks to blend opulence with function and fun. The 212 rooms, which range from apartments to city rooms for the business traveller, will feature upcycled wood and décor finishes coupled with light linen and smokey glass and brass fixtures. Food and beverage wise, the revolving restaurant at the top of the hotel will revolve once again and the flagship restaurant will feature an eight course menu and Chef Bertus Basson at the helm. The 21st and 20th floors of the hotel will host the Dom Perignon champagne bar and the Hennesy Cognac smoking lounge respectively. For all-day dining, the 320-seater CASA Restaurant flows out onto the pool deck, flanked by palm trees both inside and out. The poolside will also feature cabanas, offering a luxurious resort feel.
