Owned by the Swiss Saager family, it makes sense that Eikendal wine estate would tackle the winter cold with a traditional Swiss cheese fondue. On the evening of the 28th of July, the wine estate between Somerset West and Stellenbosch will host a Swiss Cheese Fondue evening.
Priced at R200 a person, which includes a glass of Eikendal’s Shiraz/Petit Verdot 2015, the Cheese Fondue sounds as though it’s going to be delicious. The fondue will be rich, mustard and ale infused Gruyere cheese, with an assortment of items to dip. These include steamed broccoli and cauliflower, chunks of potato, toasted olive ciabatta bread, hand-crumbed chicken strips, smoked pork ribs, and oven-grilled, soy-marinated Portabellini mushrooms.
Cellarmaster, Nico Grobler, and food guru Marilou Marais will delight guests with fascinating stories and secrets ranging from the Eikendal cellar to the Swiss Alps. Wine enthusiasts will also be able to buy and enjoy any of the other Eikendal wines with their sizzling fondue.
