Sun International’s Time Square opens officially this weekend with music festival

[vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Sun International’s multi-billion rand development in Menlyn, Time Square, will open to the public this Saturday, 1 April. The much anticipated unveiling of South Africa’s most technologically advanced casino will feature an outdoor music festival as well as a dramatic pyrotechnics display that will light up the skies over Menlyn.

The official ribbon cutting will  be conducted on Saturday morning by Sun International’s Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Leeming; Sun International’s Chief Operating Officer, Thabo Mosololi; Sun International’s Chief Marketing Officer, Rob Collins and Time Square’s General Manager, Brett Hoppé.

The big building reveal between 19h14 and 19h21 promises to be an audiovisual spectacular as Time Square’s exterior lighting is switched on for the first time, followed by a choreographed pyrotechnics display. Attending the music festival and pyrotechnics display is free however seats are limited and unreserved so guests are urged to arrive early. Alcohol is not permitted on the festival lawns. Food and refreshments will be on sale at outlets at Central Square.

“We are thrilled to announce that Time Square will be open for everyone to enjoy this Saturday, 1 April 2017. Join us as we celebrate the opening of Tshwane’s new entertainment hub. This will take your breath away,” says Time Square’s General Manager, Brett Hoppé.

Opening with the casino are 18 new restaurants and bars by an eclectic ensemble of South African and international personalities. Each is individual in concept and character to deliver a distinctive experience.

There are three unique establishments on the upper level: Forti Grill & Bar by Fortunato Mazzone (the charismatic South African chef, radio personality and owner of the multiple award winning Ristorante Ritrovo); Something’s Cooking with J’Something by Joao da Fonseca (the lead singer of Mi Casa and well known culinary artiste – aka J’Something) and Guy Fieri’s Kitchen and Bar by Guy Fieri (American celebrity chef, restaurateur and TV host of Guy’s Big Bite and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives).

The next phase, construction of a state of the art, 8 500 seat Arena, will be complete in November this year, followed by phase three, The Maslow Time Square hotel in March 2018. The only venue of its kind in Pretoria, the arena will play host to international and local concerts, exhibitions and lifestyle events. The hotel will offer new concept in hospitality, being a 238 room specialist business hotel, offering standard to premium accommodation.”
