Boschendal to host Mushroom Foraging day

< 1 min

Boschendal is surrounded by beautiful habitats that are conducive to mushroom growth, and they’re inviting guests to explore the property’s surrounds and forage wild mushrooms together with avid mushroom forager Justin Williams. The forage will be followed by a three-course mushroom-based lunch, served at The Werf.

The mushroom hunt will begin with an educational talk led by Justin about mushroom identification and foraging, followed by a trip to the poplar forest and then to the old oak trees, where the prospect of a perfect porcini may be just around the next corner. The three-course set menu at the Werf Restaurant will be created by Executive Chef Christiaan Campbell and willl use only the best in natural produce and locally sourced ingredients.

Mushroom foraging, also known as “the silent hunt,” is a highly satisfying pastime, and guests will leave with the knowledge about how to safely pick their own mushrooms for the table.
