During 2016 StreetSmart SA Restaurants and their diners across South Africa raised R1,060,000 for organisations that are actively involved with social development, education and skills training of vulnerable children with the ultimate goal of family reunification. Restaurants that participate in StreetSmart add a voluntary R5 donation to each bill, all of which goes to charities in the area which support street children;  StreetSmart SA’s operating costs are sponsored.

StreetSmart Restaurants in Cape Town and Franschhoek raised R600 000 and R100 000 respectively, while participating restaurants in Stellenbosch raised R80 000. StreetSmart restaurants in Pretoria raised R50 000, and Johannesburg restaurants raised R100 000. StreetSmart Swellendam raised R30 000, and participating restaurants from Knysna and Plettenberg Bay each raised R50 000.
