We’re loving the artisanal gin movement that’s hit South Africa! New to the market is Jenever Montane – a Cape Town-made gin, distilled with a combination of Table Mountain and Western Cape fynbos, together with traditional gin botanicals. It’s signature flavour is rose geranium, a distinctive Western Cape scent. And the name? Jenever means Juniper in Dutch and was the traditional name used for gins brought over to the Cape over 300 years ago, and Montane is the name used for the fynbos which thrives at high altitudes, such as Table Mountain. The flavour is distinctively Cape Town, but still subtle. Flavours include Juniper, Angelica Root, Coriander, Lemon Peel, Rose Geranium, Cape May, Grains of Paradise, Grapefruit and Honeybush.  Jenever Montane is available in discerning gin bars, restaurants, retailers and liquor stores across South Africa as well as online through www.yuppiechef.com
