The annual AfrAsia Bank Cape Wine Auction is being held this weekend in the luscious and oldest wine region of the Western Cape.
A huge bidding event will take place on the 12th and 13th at the Klein Constantia Estate where forty extraordinary Auction lots will be selling an exceptional collection of iconic wines, rare collectables, and insider wine experiences never before offered by the South African wine industry. The Constantia Valley will also be represented by the majority of wineries participating both independently and jointly in the unique Constantia wine experience. All proceeds will be contributed to the education and empowerment of disadvantaged youth in the Cape Winelands.
Cognac will be making its debut at this year’s Auction. The President of Bisquit Cognac, Vincent Chappe, will be in South Africa to represent the House of Bisquit Cognac at the auction. He will be revealing the specially designed L’Origine bottle and sharing more about its audacious design and story. The House of Bisquit has created an amazing lot prize which gives the highest bidder, local or abroad, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to discover the wonders of Le Château Bisquit. Furthermore, they will get a glimpse of the wonderful town of Cognac and the romantic city of Paris, and experience first-hand l’art de vivre á la Française.
Once at Château Bisquit, the visitors will get a bespoke tour of the castle with Vincent Chappe (President) and Denis Lahouratate (Cellar Master). This opportunity to share Bisquit Cognac’s unique savoir-faire includes a special introduction to the Cognac House’s art de vivre, and the chance to discover the marvels of the Bisquit distillation tradition. The experience will further consist of a personal tasting session inside the Bisquit cellars, a specially prepared dinner by French acclaimed chef Thierry Verrat of La Ribaudiére Restaurant, and an overnight stay at the François Premier Hotel in the centre of Cognac. Finally, the winners will have the rare opportunity to fill their decanter from a barrel containing Bisquit’s richest and rarest Cognac, specially reserved for this occasion. As all extraordinary experiences deserve an extraordinary ending, the winners will be invited to go on a private tour of Paris and to spend the night at the luxurious 6 Mandel Hotel.
