Michelin star for South African restaurant

< 1 min

Restaurant JAN, a South African restaurant in Nice in the South of France, has been awarded its first Michelin star in the 2016 French Guide Michelin. Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen, the owner and proprietor, is the first South African chef to receive this accolade.  The reviewers for the Michelin guide dine anonymously and look for consistency and excellence in the food and service industry, which makes attaining a Michelin star such an incredible feat.

JAN was opened by Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen and Pascal Szafranski in 2013 and has received numerous accolades since it opened its doors. The restaurant seats 28, showcases South African hospitality and serves honest food inspired by the local produce. To read more about the restaurant, visit www.restaurantjan.com.
