Bistro Michel introduces Plat du Jour

< 1 min

Bistro Michel, the popular Parisienne-styled restaurant located in the BluBird Shopping Centre (just off Corlett Drive), has added a Plat du Jour option to their current lunchtime menu.

Says owner and chef Michel Morand: “France is famous for its Plat du Jour which offers diners good food that is reasonably priced. I realised that there are a lot of working people in the area who only have an hour or less for lunch and want to have something quick but tasty to eat as well as affordably priced, so I’ve added both a Plat du Jour as well as a small range of gourmet hamburgers to our regular menu.”

The Plat du Jour is served at lunchtime from Tuesdays to Fridays and changes daily depending on seasonal ingredients and what takes the chef’s fancy. Expect typical French bistro dishes such as Chicken Cordon Bleu served with mushroom sauce and sautéed baby marrow Provencal; fish and chips served with tartare sauce; Shepherd’s Pie (a recreation of the one served at Michel’s previous establishment the legendary Gatrile’s) served with sautéed beans and traditional Parisian beef tartare with frites and a side salad.

Price is R90 per person and includes coffee.

Last year the restaurant added a popular gourmet burger option which also remains on the lunchtime menu. Options include classic beef, chicken Hawaiian, Karoo lamb and vegetarian.

While Bistro Michel has established itself as a firm favourite evening dining venue, the team is keen to welcome a more casual lunchtime trade who want a quick bite before rushing back to work or that next appointment.
